EVERYTHING FOR THE MAINE GARDENER SINCE 1977
Welcome to Mainescape
"Won't you come into the garden? I would like my roses to see you."
~ Richard Brinsley Sheridan
Pansies Are Here!
Spring is in the air, even up here on the coast of Maine. We've been busy placing orders and getting ready for another crazy season, in what will hopefully be a less restrictive shopping environment than last year. We are still asking shoppers to wear masks and maintain distancing, but more of you can come inside and wander our various rooms of gardening supplies, houseplants, pet food and gifts Hurray! We also will have our outside sales window for anyone who would rather not shop inside. You are welcome to call and have us gather up what you need and have it ready for you when you arrive.
This season we are very happy to introduce our new Plant Library Tool, which you can access in the top menu. You can search for a particular plant or for plants that are best for particular conditions. Within the introduction to the plant library you can also link to pdf lists of all our plants, with sizes and prices.
Currently our hours are still Wedns - Sat from 10 - 4, but in a few weeks we'll be back to 7 days a week. We look forward to seeing you!
Since 1977, Mainescape has grown with our community. We began as a design/build landscape company and quickly
added a small garden shop. We started by providing local gardeners with all the seeds, tools, soil, fertilizers and plants
they needed in the planting season. 15 years later we began selling local organic produce and baked goods, as well
as specialty pet foods. Along the way we started a mail order Christmas business and send our signature wreaths
and centerpieces all over the country during the holiday season.
In 2009, we built our glass green house, which allowed us to not only expand our inventory, but also to share a
beautiful space with our community. We have hosted concerts, festivals, dances and wedding receptions
and for the past ten years (not this past year!) welcomed a farmer's market from mid-October through April.
The Market includes over 20 sellers of fresh veggies, coffee, cheeses, meats, baked goods, prepared foods,
honey and maple syrup, chocolates, crafts and more. A nice respite on cold Winter Saturday.
